Indian Masala Chai / Tea

Indian Masala Chai

Who doesn't like a nice hot cup of masala chai on a cold winter day or if you are like me then I would say all year around. I'm a huge tea lover. Holding a nicely made cup of tea makes me happy. The below recipe uses lots of spices but you can a make a variation by only using ginger that would be ginger tea or you can only use cardamom.

Water to milk ratio all depends upon personal preference some like their tea with less milk and some with half water and half milk. I prefer my tea with less milk and you can always workaround with water to milk ratio as per your taste.

Ingredients

1 tiny piece of cinnamon
1 clove
1 green cardamom
1 small piece of ginger
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup milk

  1. For 1 cup of tea take 3/4 cup of water in a pan and bring it to a boil and add all the spices and boil it for few seconds
  2. Then add 1 tea spoon of loose black tea or 1 tea bag if you don't have loose tea
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar or as per taste or no sugar at all :-)
  4. Now add the 1/4 cup of milk and bring it to a boil and put it on low flame for 20 seconds.
  5. Use a tea strainer and Enjoy the hot masala tea.

Healthy Granola / Breakfast Bars

Ingredients:

2 cup Rolled oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup mixed dry fruits and nuts
6 tsp oil
1/3 cup honey
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg

Recipe:

Chop the dry fruits and nuts or break it down in mortar pestle which I did as it is more quick

Mix all dry ingredients oats, whole wheat flour cinnamon powder and baking powder

In a sauce pan add oil, honey and brown sugar and warm it up on low heat for 2-3 minutes so that sugar and honey is all mixed in well

whisk one egg and mix egg and sugar, honey and oil mixture in the dry ingredients.

Prepare a baking tray and line up with aluminium foil or baking paper and grease it with oil and put the mixture on the tray and press it down as the picture below

Bake it at 180 degree Celcius for 20 -25 minutes or until edges start to turn golder brown and cut it when warm . Here is the final product
